A Year in Korea / Ein Jahr in Korea

I'm going to spend one year in the ever beautiful Korea. For that sake I decided to revive my blog here at blogspot. Ich werde ein Jahr lang im ewig wunderschönen Korea verbringen. Aus diesem Grund habe ich mich entschieden diesen Blog wieder aufleben zu lassen!

I hope someone is interested in my trip. At least my family will be...I hope ;) Ich hoffe, dass interessiert jemanden. Zumindest meine Familie wird daran interessiert sein....hoffe ich :)

I will be studying at the Sungkyunkwan University. I THINK, at least. First I had to apply at the International Office of my University. Ich werde an der Sungkyunkwan University studieren. ICH DENKE, zumindest. Denn zuerst musste ich mich im Internationalen Büro meiner Universtität dafür bewerben. They told me they will nominate me at the University in Korea for a collage place. So I'm currently waiting to be accepted. Sie haben mir zugesagt, dass sie mich an der Univerität in Korea für einen Studienplatz nominieren. Ich warte also noch darauf dort angenommen zu werden. I study korean and japanese studies in germany since 2014. Ich studiere hier in Deutschland seit 2014 Koreanistik und Japanologie. It's quite exhausting but at the same time it's a lot of fun. I really love it. Es ist ganz schön anstrengend, aber gleichzeitig macht es auch Spaß. Ich liebe es wirklich.

I want to upload a lot of stuff from now on. Stuff about my application. What kind of things I have to do in order to spend a year in Korea. My whole way to and through Korea...and the aftermath... Ich möchte von nun an mehr hochladen. Dinge über meine Bewerbung. Was für Dinge ich tun muss um ein Jahr in Korea zu studieren. Mein ganzer Weg nach Korea und durch Korea....und die Folgen.

New Feature - Drama Corner

My Drama Corner. At least for myself as mentioned it's inevitable. Meine Drama Ecke. Zumindest für mich, wie gesagt, notwendig. I'm not sure were this will lead to. Ich hab bisher noch keine Ahnung in welche Richtung das gehen wird. I just made one so that I can load everything on that site that I can't in real life (because there is just no one I know who cares). Ich möchte einfach nur alles abladen, was für mich in meinem Umfeld nicht möglich ist. (weil ich niemanden kenne der sich dafür interessiert) So if you are interested, then take a look, if not, don't bother. ;) Wenn aber dennoch DU Bock drauf hast, lieber Leser, dann schau vorbei, wenn nicht, dann spars dir!^^

1st episode of Running Man

I wanted to update my Surprise Video section, but it felt like a waste to erase this one just like that. So I decided to put it in my Blog as well höhö

This is (again) a new feature. Meine neueste Erneuerung ist da^^ Allerdings können sich das auch nur Leute anschauen, die der englischen Sprache mächtig sind. Just people with the knowledge of the english language can watch this. It is something that I watched a lot lately. An ongoing variety show in korea. They have A LOT of those shows and this is my favourite: RUNNING MAN. I started watching it because of Song Joong Ki oppa and became a fan of all members. They are just sooooooo funny. So here is the first episode, enjoy!

NEW FEATURE + Running Man

I have a new feature - my surprise video site.  Please check it out. I will feature videos once in a while, always with english subtitels in it. So I may end up having some movies on this side. Always online streaming of course. Ich habe eine neue Seite gemacht - meine Überraschungsvideo Seite. Klingt total bekloppt, ist es aber gar nicht. Bitte schaut es euch doch mal an. Ich werde immer mal wieder etwas neues auf diese Seite stellen, immer mit englischen Untertiteln natürlich. Also vielleicht stelle ich auch ein paar Filme auf diese Seite. Immer online streaming natürlich.

This time it's Running Man. A korean variety show that I watched lately. This show is about a famous cast that gets to solve tasks, mostly hide and seek games. The MCs and guests play games and carry out missions in the famous landmark, and are required to win missions to earn Running Balls. The team with Running Balls will win, while the losing team will be punished. They usually invite well-known celebs as guests to their show. I just added the first episode and if it is hard to watch because you don't know who is the cast of the show, then please read the following description from wikipedia. I added some things though. Aegyooo, I really wish we could have something like that in Germany. It is so much fun. Ich habe den gesamten Artikel auf Englisch geschrieben, weil man Running Man auch nur schauen kann, wenn man die Sprache ausreichend beherrscht. Oder will das irgendjemand auf Deutsch??

Running Man hosts:

Yu Jae-suk

Jae-suk is a well known MC in Korea. He did a lot of shows and has a 20 year experience in show business as a host. He is a pro and tries hard to keep this show fun and entertaining. They have their own humor over there at korea. But I really like it because they are all very kind and usually nag with each other. In my opinion it's far more entertaining than GNTM or DSDS. WHY? Because they don't use insults, they have chemistry and they care for each other. Come on can't we be a little more friendly and funny in german TV. Everything feels so stiff and robotic. Of course we have good 'comedians' but not that much interacting you know. No real emotions, no surprise, no action....no hilariousness. Well...maybe a little.

Ji Suk-jin 

The oldest member of the show is also a well known MC. He is funny but has a rather rude way of joking. A little bit like a grandmother always nagging around. I like him, höhö. He has this sarcasm that I fund. Being straight forward and always having a funny answer is his strong point. I think he is actually pretty concious of his actions because he often makes fun of himself. Ji Suk-jin is known as Big Nose Older Brother (왕코형님) for his known big nose. He is often shown as weak during the race mission and is frequently and easily caught.

Kim Jong-kook

That guy has muscels, man! Wuhuu. He really stands out. Good looking, charming, strong, fast and totally cute at times. They pick on him for that but I'm absolutely onboard with this cuteness. He surprises me all the time but I guess he can easily handle stress due to his everyday workout. Sport is actually a good thing, if it tourns out like this. He is usually the leader of one team and Jae Suk Jin the leader of the other one. Jong-kook is a singer and has a strong! record of successful albums in recent years, despite his high voice (so doesn't fit with his appearence hehe). The strongest man on the show, Kim Jong-kook is known as Sparta-kook-s (스파르타국스) and Capable One (능력자) for his skill in capturing others during the race mission. Sparta-kook-s is a parody of Spartacus. He also known as "Kookie^^" for his cuteness and "aegyo".


Gary

Gary is one of my favourites. Wait..they all are my favourites. Whatever, he is a rapper and a totally cool one. He also has his own restaurant and thus is surprisingly fast in counting bank notes (talk about random things). Besides that I'M A FAN OF THE MONDAY COUPLE (thats just me overreacting). Featured as one of the "variety rookies", Gary is known as Peaceful Gary (평온개리) for his calm facial expressions during the Photo Zone Game and throughout the show. He is also known as Ga-colas Cage (개콜라스 케이지) during the race mission, which is a parody of Nicolas Cage.

Ha-ha

Ahahaha my Ha-ha. he is really likeable even if it did not occur to me in the beggining. He usually makes funny faces and imitates Hollywood movies. You could call him weak but he just has a soft heart. Because he is one of the talkative people he keeps inventing new jokes and acts cute. I really like him because I can sense something mature about him even if he seems often childish. I guess small and funny guys are my soft spot, da'<&$mn!Ha-ha is often picked on by the other members. He is known as Ha-roro (하로로) for his similar appearance to Pororo the Little Penguin.

Lee Kwang-soo

Featured as one of the "variety rookies", Lee Kwang-soo has build an image known as Incriminating Kwang-su (모함광수), where he frames his fellow members with embarrassing and often absurd rumours that I simply love. They are so hilarious that my stomach hurts from laughing. Kwang-soo has this charm of a tall, stiff guy that looks like he would like to be smaller, always bowing down and apologizing. He is shy and tries hard to receive attention from the others. I read that he is 1,90 meter high, which hits a soft spot of mine again. Tall and cute guy? I'm in! He has a seriously big mouth that leads to funny facial expressions and his whole appearance looks dorky. It hurts myself when he makes this lonely face but it's really funny to watch him, being so desperate and spechless. He is an actor and starred in a few well-known korean dramas. 


Song Ji-hyo

Ji-hyo is my only female friend in this show. She is cute, straight forward and fast as a woman can be. They tend to mock her in a older brother and younger sister way. But I think she is like a princess that doesn't care about her image. The kind of woman that participates in every amusement with a boyish toughness and a goddess like appearence. Just my opinion. The only female member of the show, Song Ji-hyo is known as Song Ji-yok (송지욕), where "yok" means "to abuse", because of her abuse toward some of the members like Lee Kwang-su and Ha-ha. She is also known as Mung Ji-hyo (멍지효), where "mung" means "confused", because of her facial expressions which makes her seem confused. During the race mission, she is referred to as an Ace (에이스) due to her similar running/catching capabilities as Kim Jong-kook.

The following were previously members of Running Man but have since left the show.

 

Lizzy 

The "long-term guest" of Running Man and member of girl group 'After School'. Lizzy is known as the country girl from Busan. As of episode 26, she has left the program for 'After School' activities. She is a really smart girl with a crazy attitude. Because she came to the show rather late I think she never really got part of the cast. I have to say that I did not care that much about her as a viewer. She did not fit the show and the whole joking around thing. But as a girl of her age I totally like her. She says everything in this outright way, a little bit shameless but always adorable. I never heard about 'After School' but I will definitely google them soon.

Song Joong Ki

Featured as one of the "variety rookies", Song Joong-ki is known for his good-looks and is referred to as Flower Joong-ki, meaning pretty and is referred to as Brain Joong-ki. He is also known as Active Young Man when he either wants to try something new or believes he can do something well, but fails. As of episode 42, he has left the program to focus on his acting career. Which is a pity. I began to watch this show because of him. His role in 'Sungkyungkwan Scandal' as 'Goo Yong-ha' has absolutly swoon me away. Since back then I am a fan and I will continue to do so, tough he left the show. It's a loss no doubt about that, but since he will continue to work on his acting career I'm satisfied. I hope he evolves in a good way - my fingers are crossed.

This is my first variety show and it will always stay my favourite. Just as Hana Kimi will always be my first Dorama and my favourite. YAY for asien pop culture!!

49 Days and the korean drama industry

I'm currently watching this drama (trailer below). In letzter Zeit schaue ich mir diese Serie an. Koreanisch, versteht sich, denn die machen bekanntlich den meisten Spaß. Die Koreaner kümmern sich sehr darum schöne Bilder zu filmen. Those guys really care about scenery, which is e.g. not that important for japanese dramas (but it should be important). Even Taiwanese dramas suck at that. They just don't have this dramatic sense I guess. Den Japanern scheinen schöne Bildchen nicht besonders wichtig zu sein (natürlich gibt es Ausnahmen). Aber das macht die Doramas auch umso realistischer (abgesehen von ihren abnormalen Storys). Trotzdem fehlt der dramatische Kick, oft weil alles viel zu schnell geht (nur 10 Episoden um eine Geschichte zu erzählen). Wie ihr sehen könnt, gibt es also Vor- und Nachteile, wie die jeweilige Kultur Geschichten erzählt. As you can see, there are pros and cons. But this one is really good. And I'm saying this because I can. I already watched a lot of them. Diese Serie hier ist richtig gut. Ich kann das beurteilen, denn ich hab schon eine Menge von diesen Serien gesehen. Man kann sie wirklich nicht mit amerikanischen Serien vergleichen. Das macht auch niemand. Die Devise ist, jeder nach seinem Geschmack, was das angeht!! Dies hier ist eine der Miniserien, die die Sender ständig neu produzieren. Es gibt selten Fortsetzungen (also keine season 1,2,3,4,5 wie in Amerika) und die Länge hängt nur bedingt von den Einschaltquoten ab. Das Minimum liegt bei 16 Episoden, zwei jede Woche, jeweils ca. eine Stunde lang. The community of people following this culture is big. Big enough to subtitle it in english in 2 days and puplish it on the internet. Even someone like me who isn't asien, has a connection or something like that get's excited and is a fan. Wuhuuu!

Filmtipp - Won Bin

I'm a fangirl. Ich bin ein (nicht übersetzbar) Fangirl. So wie alle anderen auch liebe ich es Filme von meinen Lieblingsschauspielern anzuschauen. As everybody else I just love to watch a movie with one of my favourite actors in it. And nowadays it is Won Bin - a korean actor. Zur Zeit handelt es sich um Won Bin - ein koreanischer Schauspieler. Nun machen, wie ich leider noch nicht erwähnt habe, koreanische Filme den meisten Spaß. Until now I did not mention it but for me korean movies are the most fun. Well french movies as well, but since my addiction for korean movies feels much more proximate I start with this passion first. Naja, französische Filme sind das auch, aber der Kick bei koreanischen Filmen ist einfach besser, deshalb beginne ich zuerst mit dieser Leidenschaft. Wie gesagt meine letzte Filmreihe waren die Won-Bin-Filme. As said my recent film series are those with Won Bin. Let's take a look at them! Schaun wir mal was er so drauf hat:

 

GUNS & TALKS 2001/Revolver und Gespräche(schreckliche Übersetzung):

Won Bin plays the cute little brother of Sang-yeon and all four guys are a group of assasins. Although it seems like an action movie, it is rather a comedy with a little bit of blood. Those koreans always make movies with a heart in it. This one surely is for people who love films with a smart gun and hilarious laughs, good acting and sharp characters. They are honest and straight but still killers, can you imagine how a movie actually brings both of it to live? I'm sure this way it would not be impossible in Hollywood. Charming thieves yes, but charming assasins... and four of them? Nope.

Won Bin spielt den süßen kleinen Bruder von San-yeon und alle 4 Jungs auf dem Poster bilden eine Gruppe aus Auftragsmördern. Auch wenn es sich wie ein Actionfilm anhört ist es eher eine Komödie, mit ein bisschen Blut drin. Diese Koreaner machen immer Filme mit Herz. Guns&Talks ist für Leute, die sich gerne Filme mit geschickter Pistole und urkomischen Situationen, guter darstellerischer Leistung und schrillen Charakteren anschauen. Die Jungs sind ehrlich und direkt, trotz Profi Killer Dasein. Könnt ihr euch vorstellen, wie ein Film tatsächlich beides realisiert? Ich bin mir sicher, dass ein Film auf diese Art und Weise unmöglich wäre in Hollywood.

Taeguki 2004 - Brotherhood of War/ 

Wenn Brüder aufeinander schießen müssen:

Well, it is as you can see about WAR. But from my opinion it's an antiwar movie. It shows the two brothers being caught in the civil war between north and south korea in 1950. I read that 3 million people lost their lives in this war. It's really tragic and I cried a lot due to the fact that they showed the brutal side of war so realistic. While the older brother tries to get his younger brother (Won Bin) being send back to his family, he slightly changes from gently to unscrupulous. In order to save Won Bin, he is the hero of every military action and becomes inhumane. It's smart since they pick up an important topic - the absurdity of war, the inhumane actions, the disarray of the soldiers and their own reason of fighting against other folks. War makes you go completely insane. That's how it is. And that's how they show it. 
Wie ihr sehen könnt handelt der Film vom Krieg. Aber es ist für mich ganz offensichtlich ein Antikriegsfilm. Es zeigt zwei Brüder die beide in den Bürgerkrieg zwischen Nord- und Südkorea um 1950 ungewollt hineingezogen werden. Ich habe gelesen, dass ungefähr 3 Millionen Menschen damals starben. Der Film ist wirklich dramatisch aufgezogen, ich habe viel geweint, vor allem weil die brutalste Seite des Krieges so realistisch dargestellt wird. Der ältere Bruder versucht seinen jüngeren Bruder zurück zur Familie zu schicken. Er versucht ein Kriegsheld zu werden, Sympathien zu sammeln, für den Wunsch seinen Bruder in die Sicherheit zu wissen. Pustekuchen. Die Kriegszustände verwandeln ihn in einen skrupellosen Faschisten und  sein kleiner Bruder (Won Bin) ist der Einzige, der ihn ins Gewissen redet. Es ist schlau gemacht, sehr schlau sogar. Man zeigt vor allem die Absurdität des Krieges, die Unmenschlichkeit, die Verwirrung die sich unter den Soldaten breit macht und die Gründe jedes Einzelnen in diesem Krieg zu kämpfen. Krieg macht alle Beteiligten verrückt und kaputt. So ist es. Und so wird es gezeigt.

My Brother 2004 - Mein Bruder:

'My Brother' is a sad movie (again). And it is about 2 Brothers (again). Just watch it and you will like it. There is not much to say except the fact that the actors are great. They both played totally different characters in GUNS & TALKS (above) and it's just amazing to watch it. I know about the problems between siblings because I have two, but those guys have to struggle in their own ways. It's sweet and sad. It's good. 

"Mein Bruder" ist ein trauriger Film (schon wieder). Es handelt von 2 Brüdern (schon wieder^^). Schaut es euch an ihr werdet es mögen. Es gibt ehrlich gesagt nicht viel über den Film zu sagen, außer dass die Schauspieler das wirklich gut machen. Beide haben in dem Film "Revolver und Gespräche" (oben) mitgespielt und beide haben einen komplett anderen Charakter in diesem Film. Man kann sie gut vergleichen und es macht Spaß ihr Können zu bewundern. Ich kenne die Probleme die man haben kann, wenn man Geschwister hat, aber diese beiden müssen auf einem ganz anderem Level kämpfen als ich das kenne. Beide auf ihre ganz eigene Art. Es ist schön und traurig zugleich. Es ist einfach ein guter Film.

The Man from Nowhere 2010 - 

Der Mann von Nirgendwo

That movie is basically what made me love him. Though he runs around shooting people (which I don't like) it's 1st well acted, 2nd well made and 3rd realistic and up-to-date. It's about a topic I'm sensitive to. Organ trafficking. Well it is also about Organ trafficking. Mostly it's about Won Bin fighting, Won Bin running, Won Bin looking cool and Won Bin. Not bad as well. The whole fighting scenes are so good that I (who dislikes bloody Actionmovies) am totally taken in by it. It is so well made.....that I can't even find words to discribe it....okay maybe it is to cool to be true. But every movie exaggerates something. That's its purpose, to focus on just one thing.  I don't know much about Actionmovies in general but I'm sure that everyone who is a fan of that genre should have watched this movie.
Dieser Film hat mich schließlich dazu gebracht ihn zu lieben...also als Fan natürlich. Auch wenn er durch die Kante rennt und die ganze Zeit jemanden umbringt (was ich wirklich nicht toll finde) ist es 1. gut gespielt, 2. ein wirklich gut gemachter Film und 3. greift es ein Thema auf, auf das ich sehr empfindsam reagiere. Organhandel. Naja es handelt AUCH von Organhandel. Hauptsächlich dreht es sich um Won Bin kämpfend, Won Bin rennend, Won Bin cool dreinschauend und ... Won Bin. Was auch nicht schlecht ist. Diese ganzen Kampfszenen sind sehr realistisch gemacht, so das ich (die blutige Actionfilme hasst) total begeistert davon bin. Es wurde so gut dargestellt....das ich es nicht mal in Worte fassen kann....okay vielleicht ist es zu cool um wahr zu sein. Aber jeder Film übertreibt doch immer etwas. Ich finde sogar das ist die ganze Absicht und der ganze Stolz eines Films. Ich weiß nicht viel über Actionfilme, aber ich bin sicher, dass jeder der dieses Genre liebt genau diesen Film gesehen haben sollte. Deshalb habe ich extra den Trailer für euch^^

Meine neue Lieblingsband: BOOHWAL

Meine neue Lieblingsband ist die koreanische 

Rockband Boo-Hwal.

Dank des Mini-Dramas "Rock Rock Rock", die ihr auf DramaCrazy.net mit englischen Untertiteln anschauen könnt, bin ich ganz begeistert von ihrer Musik. Einerseits weil ich ein paar Brocken koreanisch, nach all den Dramas die ich bisher gesehen hab, kann und andererseits, weil ich rock schon immer am coolsten fand. I definitely always was captivated by the coolness of rock'n'roll. In dem Mini-Drama wird hauptsächlich das Leben und der Kampf des Bandleiters/Bandleaders Kim Tae Won um den Erhalt von Boo-Hwal gezeigt. Boo-Hwal bedeutet übersetzt 'Ressurection'/Wiederauferstehung passt wie die Faust aufs Auge für Kim Tae Won. Der Typ hat alles durch und es wird sehr dezent und respektvoll in diesem kleinen Drama-Spezial erzählt. Tatsächlich sind meiner Meinung nach die leisen Töne, die Blicke und das Leid die Stärke dieser "Dokumentation". Auf jedenfall sehenswert! Watch it! 

BOO-HWAL & Lee Sung Cheol (der nicht gut wegkommt bei der Verfilmung^^)

Ich finde Lee hat eine super Stimme. Kim Tae Won ist mittlerweile als "Großmutter der Nation" bekannt, weil er in einer dieser koreanischen Quatschshows auftrat...keine Ahnung wie die heißen. Jedenfalls hat er nach allem was in seinem Leben passiert ist doch einen ziemlich ausgeprägten Humor. :)
